Today I remember yummy snow ice cream; made with fresh (white) snow, sugar, vanilla, eggs, and milk. It was a thinner mixture than store-bought ice cream, but it was guaranteed to give you an ice cream headache in split seconds. Wade and I used to eagerly await a snow that would fall deep enough to scrape off the top layer (to avoid the air contaminates that landed on the top), and use the middle layer, leaving yet a third layer of snow to cover the ground, to avoid dirt ending up in our snow.
I understand Trauth Dairy makes a product they call snow cream, and I can't wait to try it this Christmas Season. I will report in on the quality.
I'm old enough now, that I'm not eagerly awaiting a deep snow anymore!
